Course Descriptions and Services

These lessons are scheduled by the hour and give the individual student specific attention so that they can focus on a specific project or area of need. Students should bring their own sewing machine, as they will be learn best on the machine they will be using at home. Each 1 hour lesson is $45.

Need to learn with a purpose? This course is for newbies like you! In this sewing 101 style course you will learn basic terminology, how to set up and thread a sewing machine, and sewing/finishing a simple seam...all while making a simplified tote bag!

Required Materials: A sewing machine, 1 yd. fabric (non stretchy) for the bag body and lining, 1 yd. fusible stiff craft interfacing (20" wide), all purpose thread, a marking tool, pins, a measuring tape and/or ruler, pinking shears, and scissors.

Join us in the studio and learn how to read a sewing pattern. In this class we will focus traditional paper sewing patterns. We'll start with the envelope and work our way to the inside, going over, step-by-step, how to get the most out of your pattern, and maybe even a few hacks!

Required Materials: A commercial paper sewing pattern in its original envelope, note taking supplies, a tape measure.

In this course we will teach you how to hem your jeans in two different ways and also teach you an easy way to take a pair of jeans in at the waist! So grab a pair of jeans that needs some love and come on down!

*Some sewing basics are a prerequisite*

Required Materials: A sewing machine, 1 or 2 pairs of jeans, all purpose thread, a marking tool, pins, a measuring tape, and scissors.

Not sure what to do with those old T shirts? Let us teach you a few tricks! Bring a few old T shirts and we'll teach you how to upcycle those old shirts into new and useful items, like a bag! Participants will have several project options to choose from.

Required Materials: A sewing machine, 2-3 old T-shirts in serviceable condition, all purpose thread, a marking tool, pins, a measuring tape, and scissors.

Wanna know how to get started making your own patterns? In this course we will show you how to drape fabrics on a form to start making your very own fabrics

*Knowledge of sewing basics is very help helpful and recommended, though not necessary *

Required Materials: 1-2 yds of muslin fabric, a marking tool, pins, and scissors, a roll of paper, a measuring tape and ruler

In this course we will teach you how to hem suit pants in two different ways, both standard and cuffed. We will also discuss how to take up the sleeves of the jacket (both vented and non) So grab your suit and bring your machine!

Required Materials: A sewing machine, a suit, all purpose thread, a marking tool/chalk, pins, seam ripper, a measuring tape, and scissors.
